FAMOUS GRASSLANDS OF THE WORLD
Grassland are areas where the vegetation is dominated by grasses (Poaceae), however, sedge (Cyperaceae) and rush (Juncaceae) families can also be found. Grasslands occur naturally on all continents except Antarctica. There are different grasslands namely Temperate grasslands, savannas and shrublands.
Grassland are known by different names in different parts of the world: –
‘Steppes’ in Asia;
‘Prairies’ in North America;
‘Pampas’, ‘LIanos’ and ‘Cerrados’ in South America;
‘Savannahs’ and ‘Velds’ in Africa; and
‘Rangelands’ in Australia.

Tropical grassland are warm year round, but usually, have a dry and a rainy season. One such tropical grassland, the African savanna.
Temperate grassland which receive average between 10 and 30 inches (25 and 75 centimetres) of rain per year, have shorter grasses, sometimes just a few millimetres.
