Major Straits and Trade Routes of the World | Download PDF

Scholarship Examination in India

A Strait is defined as a comparatively narrow passageway connecting two large bodies of water. It may also be described as a naturally formed, narrow, typically navigable waterway that connects two larger bodies of water.

A strait is a narrow channel of water that connects two larger bodies of water and thus lies between two land masses. The terms strait, channel, passage, sound, and firth can be synonymous and interchangeable, although each is sometimes differentiated with varying senses.
