About Hira Sugar Institute Of Technology(HIT)
Hira Sugar Institute of Technology(HIT) is an Engineering College in Nidasoshi, Taluk Hukkeri, Belgaum, India. Established in 1996, it is one of the institutes under the banner of Shri Jagadguru Pancham Nijalingeshwar Trust.
It was with the vision and foresight of His Holiness Sriman Niranjan Jagagdguru Pancham Shri Nijalingeshwar Mahaswamiji, the ninth pontiff of Shri Siddha Sousthan Math, Nidasoshi that Shri Jagadguru Pancham Nijalingeshwar (SJPN) Trust was founded in the year 1984 with the sole purpose of imparting technical education to the needy masses. The Siddha Sousthan Math, Nidasoshi is a holy shrine and has a glorious history of over 300 years. The religious tolerance and preaching of the Math has attracted a large number of devotees & disciples from the States of Karnataka, Goa and Maharashtra.
The Management of the Trust is a benevolent body of individuals drawn from various walks of life. Eminent personalities from the society, politics, and service sector give the governing body a clear and practical perspective in managing the institution.

Eligibility Criteria For Admission in Hira Sugar Institute Of Technology
To be eligible for admission to the first year of the B.E course the students shall have passed the two year Pre-University examination (Science) conducted by the Karnataka State Pre-University Board.
OR
Pass in all subjects of final Examination of the 10+2 years course of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) with Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics as optional subjects and English as a subject of study
OR
Any other examination recognized by the University as equivalent thereto.
AND
The applicant should have passed Karnataka 2nd PUC /12th Std OR equivalent examination with Physics and Mathematics along with Chemistry /Bio-Technology /Biology as optional subjects with English as one of the languages of study and obtained a minimum of 45% of marks in aggregate in the optional subjects irrespective of the marks obtained in the Common Entrance Test. In case of candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes,Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes (category-1, 2A, 2B, 3A and 3B), the minimum marks for the purpose of eligibility is 40% of marks in aggregate in the optional subjects in the qualifying examination
The holders of the three year Diploma granted/awarded by the Directorate of Technical Education, Government of Karnataka, or of any other Diploma qualification considered equivalent thereto is eligible only through CET allotment for admission to III semester/2nd year of B.E. / B. Tech. in appropriate branch of Engineering /Technology. Such a candidate shall have to clear prescribed bridge courses. The minimum qualifying marks for admission is 45% in final examination of the 3 year Diploma course.
Admission Procedure for Hira Sugar Institute of Technology(HIT) for Under Graduate Programme
Admissions to Hira Sugar Institute of Technology(HIT) are as per the regulations of Karnataka State Govt.
The students have to appear for the Common Entrance Test (CET) conducted by Govt. of Karnataka for CET/Management Seats or ComedK Entrance Test for ComedK/Management. Seats or All India Engineering Entrance Test (AIEEE) for Management seats.

Sports & Cultural Activities
Keeping in mind the all-round development of the students ample opportunities are being provided to the students to exhibit their cultural talents and sports capabilities. The annual day which is celebrated every year sets the stage for the extraordinary students to showcase their talents. Like minded students are brought together under different clubs like music club, literary club, hobby club etc. The Institute has well maintained cricket and volleyball playgrounds along with athletic tracks. Facilities are available for indoor games like Carrom, Chess and table-tennis too. The Institute students have represented the University in various events and have brought many laurels to the Institution in zonal and State level competitions. Yoga and meditation classes are conducted for interested students.

Central Library
Library being an important facility of the Institute has about 24,250 volumes covering all the four branches of engineering. About 80 National and International Technical Journals and periodicals are being subscribed. The library books are housed in two separate sections, one is the Lending Section and the other is Reference Section. Digital Library Section is available for advanced study. Book Bank facility is also available for the needy students.

In-house functions like acquisition, cataloging and circulation are automated with the KOHA (Integrated Library Management) Software. The Library is also a member of DELNET.
Hostel Facility
The Institute provides separate hostel facility for boys and girls. Both boys (Capacity – 670) and girls (Capacity – 270) hostels are located within the Campus along with live-in designated Hostel Wardens. Delicious food with steam cooking facility is available to the in-mates on a dividing basis in a well maintained hygienic mess. Round the clock electricity and water facilities are provided.
Multi-Speciality GYM
A separate gym with modern equipments is available in the Campus to ensure good health and happy being of the students.
Transportation Services
The institute has a fleet of vehicles plying between Sankeshwar, a near by town at a distance of 7 km, and the Campus to help the students commute from various parts of this region.
Miscellaneous Facilities
A bank counter, STD/ISD, Photocopying facility, and a Co-operative society function in the Campus to facilitate the comfortable stay of the students.
Training and Placements of Hira Sugar Institute Of Technology
The Training & Placement Cell @ HIT-Nidasoshi facilitates the process of placement of students passing out from the Institute besides collaborating with leading organizations and institutes in setting up of internship and training program of students.
The T & P Cell liaises with various industrial establishments, corporate houses etc. which conduct campus interviews and select graduating engineering students from all disciplines. The T & P Cell provides the infra-structural facilities to conduct group discussions, written tests and personal interviews besides catering to other logistics requirements.
The placement season runs through the course of the year commencing the last week of July through to March. Pre-Placement Talks are also conducted in this regard as per mutual convenience. Job offers, dates of interviews, selection of candidates etc. are announced through the Training & Placement Cell.
The T & P Cell is assisted by a committee comprising representatives of students from the different engineering streams. The committee evolves a broad policy framework every year besides a set of rules which are inviolable. Student members are closely co-opted in implementing these policy decisions.
