About Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge Technologies:

The idea to create IIITs in Andhra Pradesh came in April 2007, at the request of the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. He was dissatisfied with the opportunities available to the rural youth and wanted to set up at least three IIITs in the three regions of Andhra Pradesh which would ensure better opportunities for rural students.
A Task Force was created under the Chairmanship of Prof. K.C. Reddy. This Task Force produced a report to the government recommending the structure and functioning of the proposed institutions.
In March of 2008, the AP Government created RGUKT by an act of the Legislature as a full-fledged university which would initially admit roughly the top 1% of the rural students into the three residential campuses.
The first batch of about 6,500 tenth class graduates was admitted into a six year integrated program in August of 2008. The initial selection was based on the local best model where students receiving the top marks in every subject were selected.

Andhra Pradesh and Telangana students can apply through APOnline services OR can use the links provided below. Students belonging to States other than Andhra Pradesh & Telangana State including the children of Indians working in Gulf Countries / International and NRI students, please visit the Other States & International Students tab given above.
Read all information given in the Detailed Notification , Annexures and instructions given below carefully before applying.
Please carry study certificates from 4th class to 10th class and soft copy of your passport size photograph to APOnline Center for filling application.

Application Fee:
Rs. 150.00 (for OC and BC candidates)
Rs. 100.00 (for SC and ST candidates)

An additional amount of Rs. 25.00 per application should be paid as service charges to the APOnline Centre.
The application fee can be paid in cash at APOnline service center, for which the center will issue a receipt. OR The application fee can be paid using the payment gateway link given above.
Please keep the application printout and payment receipt with you for reference.
Only PH/CAP/NCC/Sports applicants have to post their applications along with the relevant certificates to the specified address in the detailed notification.

Other States & NRI Students
Supernumerary seats to the extent of 5% are available to students belonging to States other than Andhra Pradesh & Telangana State including the children of Indians working in Gulf Countries / International and NRI students. Admission will be on the basis of merit in the marks/grades obtained in 10th standard examination. Those candidates who got a minimum of 70% of marks alone are eligible for admissions.

Video Recordings are prepared in well established studios within RGUKT. Students have open access to the Library to make use of Books. Online resources also produced by the RGUKT to serve the needs of students.
