About S T J Institute of Technology
Sri Taralabalu Jagadguru Institute of Technology is established by the religious Organization namely, Sri Taralabalu Jagadguru Brihanmath, which is well-known in Karnataka for its yeoman service in the field of rural education. Under the auspices of this organization are running more than 172 institutions right from nursery to the Engineering College all over the State of Karnataka.
Nearly 32 thousand students are studying in various schools and colleges of this organization which is one of the biggest private Educational Organization in Karnataka. More than Six thousand students are provided with free boarding and lodging.
History of the Brihanmath:
Sri Taralabalu Jagadguru Brihanmath, Sirigere is situated in Chitradurga Dist and is having a very large number of followers. It was founded by saint “Marulasiddha” during 12th century AD. The saint Marulasiddha blessed his successor with the divine words “Tarala! Balu !” (Long Live! My Lord!) and that is how the pontiffs of this sacred seat come to be known as “Sri Taralabalu Jagadguru”. True to the spirit of the blessings of their founder, the pontiffs of this Brihanmath have been rendering yeoman service for the upliftment of the society for the last eight centuries.
The present pontiff of the Brihanmath is Dr Shivamurthy Shivacharya Mahaswamiji who succeeded to this religious seat in the year 1979. The Swamiji is an eminent Sanskrit scholar with PhD from Banaras Hindu University. His Holiness is also the President of the Education Society. Treading the path of his predecessor, the Swamiji has been relentlessly striving for the upliftment of the rural poor and the downtrodden.
The role of technology in the development of a country is well known. It is the content and quality of technical education that ensures the availability of technology in the country. When the whole world is emerging as a global village, it is the technological edge of a country that enables it to survive in this competitive world. It is only institutions having enlightened management and qualified, dedicated faculty that could ensure the availability of technical personnel to meet the needs of a country.
It is against this backdrop His Holiness Sri Taralabalu Jagadguru Dr Shivamurthy Shivacharya Mahaswamiji had established Sri Tarabalu Jagadguru Institute of Technology at Ranebennur in the year 1980.

Computer Science and Engineering
The department is imparting quality education, keeping in mind the important role of software in the industry and in providing service to the better social life and overall development of mankind.
To cater to the computing need of the students, the department is having seven states of the art Laboratories with different platforms like Windows supported by Microsoft Academic Alliance Programme and Linux. The internet facility (Lease Line) is also provided by the department. Many of our alumni are placed in premier organizations worldwide.
Civil Engineering
The Civil Engineering department has been established since July 1980. The department is well equipped with the state of art of technology laboratories serve the needs of education and consultancy. The department has experienced and well-qualified staff In all specialization of Civil Engineering field, the department has started PG in Structural Engineering from the academic year 2014-15 with an intake of 24.

Mechanical Engineering
The Department of Mechanical Engineering has started in 1980. It has both UG & PG (M.Tech) programme. Many of our students are placed in premier organizations worldwide.
The department has well-equipped laboratories and workshops to impart effective training to the students. Students get practical training in various manufacturing processes like Foundry, Welding, Sheet Metal, Milling & also in subjects like Material Science, Measurements & Metrology, IC Engine, Heat Transfer. Besides these, they also get practical training in the latest areas like Auto CAD, ANSI C
Information Science and Engineering
The Department of Information Science And Engineering commenced from the academic. the year 2000. The Department has always been on a high growth path and has experienced and dedicated faculties with a strong commitment to engineering education.
The department is having seven states of the art Laboratories with different platforms like Windows and Linux. The department organizes various training programs for teachers from other departments on different computer-related subjects.
Electronics and Communication Engineering
The department imparts education and training in the advanced and diversified field of Electronics with application orientation. It enables the students to become applied electronics engineers. The department has erudite faculty with expertise in all advanced subjects.
Department regularly organizes guest lectures by leading industrialist and technologist’s to keep the students in tune with the latest technological developments. Tech Gallery, Paper Presentation Contest and Project Competitions are held to bring out the latest technical and organizational skills of the students.
Electrical & Electronics Engineering
The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering {EEE} has been functioning since the inception of the college at l980. This field at Engineering imparts technical know-how in the areas of Electrical Machines, Power Systems, Control System, Electronics, Computer Bio-Medical instrumentation and Simulation.
The department has well equipped with the art of technology laboratories.

Eligibility
- A pass in 10+2 or PUC-II examinations, with 45% marks in Physics, Mathematics (Compulsory subjects) along with one of Chemistry / Computer Science / Biology / Electronics subjects and English as one of the languages.
- A pass in 10+2 or PUC-II examinations, with 40% of aggregate in optional subjects in case of candidates belonging to the scheduled castes, scheduled tribes and other backward classes specified in the relevant Government Order for the purpose of the reservation.
OR - Pass in Diploma awarded by the Board of Technical Education, the Govt of Karnataka or any other Diploma considered equivalent for the lateral entry admission to the second year.
