Mission

To train students in personality development, industrial orientation and thus, help them get placed in reputed industries.

Short Term Goal

I) Contacting the industries and inviting them for campus interviews.
II) Helping the students to face the challenges of the selection process by conducting periodic general aptitude tests, technical aptitude tests, group discussions, mock interviews etc., and making them generally aware of the industrial scenario, their role as engineers, etc.
III) Effectively carrying out institute-industry-interaction in terms of mutual contacts, exchange of information & ideas, arranging visits and technical talks from industrial experts, etc.
IV) Arranging vocational training to students in suitable industries depending on their aptitudes and skills.
V) Assisting the departments in arranging project works for students in reputed industries so that the students get hands-on experience in solving industrial problems.

Long Term Goals

I) To emerge as a leader in placement where multinationals vie with each other to recruit students of PESIT.
II) To build a leading HR centre to hone the skills of students in industriousness, integrity, communication, analytical
III) To proactively interact with industries and seek their co-operation in vocational training and project work for students, as well as, be active players in the overall improvement of academic ambience.

About P.E.S. Institute of Technology Management

P.E.S. Institute of Technology Management is an Engineering and Management College located in Shivamogga, Karnataka, India. It is affiliated to the Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belgaum.

PES Institutions in Shivamogga is spread across a total area of 60 acres. The Campus serves as a full-fledged learning platform for the Malnad region offering the complete cycle of education starting from early schooling through Pre-University, Diploma, Graduation, Masters and Research. All the various courses have their own infrastructural arrangements.

PESITM started in the year 2006. Started with 200 students, now have over 2000 students. Only institution in this region offering DIPLOMA, Under Graduate, Post Graduate in Science, Commerce, Engineering & Management under one roof.

1. Computer Science & Engineering

Computer Science department offers the following programmes:
B.E in Computer Science – Intake : 120

Computer Science & Engineering department imparts high quality technical education to its students with the help of its state of the art computing facilities and highly qualified teaching and supporting staff. It keeps pace with the latest technological developments and thus helps students stand in good stead in their professional life.

Salient Features

The department offers Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science and Engineering with an intake of 120 that teaches the latest developments in different areas like computer software, hardware and networking, microprocessors, operating system, database, etc.

Department has MoU with IonIdea IT Company and has set up IonIdea Incubation Centre in the campus. Good number of alumni of PESITM are working in the company. Regular technical talks and workshops for students are conducted as part of the MoU.

Department was instrumental in setting up Google Developers Group(GDG), Shivamogga chapter. Regular events are conducted under GDG banner.

The department regularly conducts workshops and short term training programs.

The interaction between students and professors greatly enriches the educational experience for all.

2. Electronics & Communications Engineering

The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering became functional with the establishment of the Institution in the year 2007. Being the core branch in Engineering, it has a lot of potential in various Sectors such as Telecommunication; Low power VLSI Design, Manufacturing, Hardware, Power and IT.

The faculty members who are experts in their own disciplines, aims at educating and training students with sound knowledge and awareness in the latest trends in Electronics and Communication.

Keeping in line with fast changing technology, the Department has a well-designed, constantly reviewed syllabus to incorporate all advancements in existing and emerging technologies. The state-of-the-art laboratories complement the high standards set by the competitive syllabus and nurture the inclination of the students towards research and development, besides giving them the necessary and sufficient backing of practical knowledge that they need.

The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering has seen a significant growth over the last 06 years and its present student intake is 120. Also, the Department has close interaction with the alumni and is continuously using their inputs for improvement of the curriculum and research facilities.

3. Information Science & Engineering

The Department of Information Science and Engineering of P.E.S. Institute of Technology Management College came into existence in the year 2007. The Department is supported by a highly qualified and dedicated staff.

Realizing well in time that the information technology wave has become a phenomenon in itself over the past few years, the institute established a separate department to cater the ever-growing demand for professionals in this challenging field.

The department aims at cultivating the thirst for Knowledge, vigour and the vision to look beyond the evident in students. The students are well versed with the exhaustive and thoroughly chosen curriculum, guided as they are by an experienced faculty.

Hands-on training sessions in various fields of application of IT have imparted to the student’s considerable acumen in the vast sector. The students perform project work as part of their curriculum to enhance their specification skills, leading to multifaceted development of their engineering concepts.

4. Electrical & Electronics Engineering

The Department of P.E.S. Institute of Technology Management College offers B.E, program in Electrical & Electronics Engineering since 2007 with an intake of 60. The B.E. degree course in Electrical and Electronics Engineering at PESITM, Shivamogga, imparts a strong foundation in physical and mathematical sciences of electrical machinery, power systems as well as computational methods. The field of Electrical and Electronics Engineering engages in the study and application of electricity, electronics and electromagnetism and has resulted in significant inventions ranging from the radio and television to laser and fiber optics. In addition to offering common core subjects, the course also covers basic concepts such as analog systems, digital systems, Power Systems, Optimization, DBMS as well as advanced concepts such as signal processing, AI and VLSI

The Department of P.E.S. Institute of Technology Management College is also a recognized research center facilitating Ph.D. / M.Sc. Research Programme in the area of Power and Energy Engineering since 2016.

The Department who comes with a total of 30 plus years of experience in core Electrical and Electronics Engineering. The Department currently has 14 faculty members with expertise in diverse areas including Power Systems and Power Electronics, Integration of Renewable Energy Sources, Smart Grid and Signal Processing.Graduates in Electrical and Electronics Engineering are drivers of technological change and innovation in engineering-based industries. Electrical & Electronics Engineering at PESITM, aims to play an active role in propelling India in its growth trajectory through innovative inter–disciplinary research and educational programs at undergraduate and research levels.

5. Mechanical Engineering

Mechanical Engineering (ME) is a very broad field that provides opportunities for interesting and challenging work in every phase of modern technology.
The Department of Mechanical Engineering was established in the year 2010 with the vision of attracting, rewarding and retaining outstanding faculty and staff who will ever provide an educational experience that prepares students for successful careers in Mechanical Engineering professions. The Department is housed in an independent block and is replete with state-of-the art laboratories and is always striving to become better with the plans to establish research centers to promote research and development activities.
The Department has received approval for increase in intake from 60 to 120 from AICTE, New Delhi starting from the academic year 2013-14.

6. Civil Engineering

Even though the Department of Civil Engineering is the oldest among all other branches of engineering, but at PESITM ours is the youngest branch as it was established in the year 2013 with an intake of 60 students every year. Presently at PESITM offering four years undergraduate course in Civil Engineering comprising eight semesters. The course is recognized by Government of Karnataka and approved by the All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi (AICTE) and affiliated to Visveswaraya Technological University, Belagavi (VTU). Also our department emphasizes on, frequent industrial visits and academic- industry interactions which enables the students to acquire field knowledge and industrial exposure. Department has well equipped state of the art laboratories, well designed classrooms. Highly qualified, dedicated and experienced faculties with supporting staff are the back bone of the department.

In addition to the regular academic activity the department also offers its services in the form of consultancy and testing to various departmental and private agencies.

1. Library

The Library & Information Centre is a resource centre for teaching, learning and research. It is housed in an area of 400 sq meters with state of the art facilities. This peaceful, sunlit area provides an ideal study space. Being the heart of the academic centre, it is home for all information services with an aim of providing “Anytime, Anywhere, Access” to information. It plays a proactive role in enabling access to information resources of all kind and providing innovative, responsive and effective service to meet the changing needs of the academic community.

The library utilises IT extensively to ensure that resources are accessible from anywhere at anytime. A fully equipped digital library with 18 desktops, high end scanners has been setup in LIC. Question papers, Newspaper clippings, full text articles, Photos, CD-ROMs, Power point presentations are hosted in digital library. The entire library collections are made available online through Institute’s network . Users can access the online databases and also find out the real time availability of library materials from their own terminals.

In addition to these resources, the faculty members dynamically upload their lecture and research notes on PESITM intranet. These are available to the students with the simple keying in of a password. Virtual Library: Has a collection of open source materials available on the internet which are relevant to the courses conducted in our college.

2. Sports

Extra curricular activities like sports not only helps an individual to maintain physical well being, but boosts an individual’s mental ability to a great extent. As a premier institution, the college provides a platform to students to excel in their area of potential.

The Campus has got facilities for indoor games (Chess, Carrom, Table Tennis etc.,) and an impressive ground for outdoor games (Cricket, Football, Basketball, Lawn Tennis etc). Apart from this, there are facilities like 400 meters track field and multi-gym which increase students’ physical endurance. The college is proud of conducting fide rated state level chess tournament recently.

3. Hostel

The College can boast of hostel facility which is unique in design and provides accommodation facility to boys & girls separately. The hostel also provides library, sports and other recreational facilities. The hostel is located with in the picturesque campus inspiring young talents to think, reflect and innovate.

The campus is enriched with a very hygienic food court which provides high quality nutritious food (includes South Indian, North Indian & Chinese food). It caters to around 300 students at a time. Further to help the students, facilities have been made for booking Railway, Airlines and Bus tickets through on-line booking.

The Training & Placement Division of the institution acts as an interface between the institute and companies, and believes in maintaining symbiotic, vibrant and purposeful relationship with industries across the country. The department hosts companies on campus and ensures that every aspirant is assured of a bright career of his/her choice.

A spacious auditorium equipped with the state-of-the-art facilities, seminar hall and multi-purpose facility halls have been made available by the institute to the cell for conducting the training and recruitment programmes.

Training and Placement cell organizes sustained training programmes for the pre-final year students towards preparing them for campus recruitment programmes. The cell has been fostering a very productive and mutually beneficial relationship with the industries towards generating the placement opportunities for our students. The cell provides the best of the facilities for conducting the recruitment programmes.

The Department of Training and Placement, the marketing division of the institute has these following functions and responsibilities:

The cell also organizes entrepreneurial awareness camps, workshops and seminars to encourage the students to become entrepreneurs.

Nurtures Student-Corporate interaction, by the means of frequent industrial visits, practical and effective training and projects of industrial relevance for the students, with the intention to cease down the hiatus that exists between an industry and the classroom.

A feedback mechanism circulates which relates to curriculum improvement from the visiting companies to the administration (faculty), to ensure that the curriculum does not miss out on the latest industrial trends.
Assists students to define their career interest through expert counselling. Availability of updated database and job profile of the companies helps each student to analyze and choose one’s desired company.
Provides continuing and useful education for the college employees as well.

Organizes and co-ordinates Campus Placement Program, to fulfil its commitment of ‘job to every aspirant’.
A proper arrangement for summer practical training for all Pre-final year B.E. Students are an important function of our department.

The relevance of the Training and Placement Department is becoming increasingly significant in the current generation. The primary aim of this department is to bridge the gap that exists between the industries – Academia and to have a holistic approach towards career development. Having been exposed to the educational environment in Europe, it’s fascinating to see the Govt-Academia-Industry synergy that effectively harnesses the intellectual wealth of educational institutions. Efforts are being made to emulate the same for the benefit of the faculty and students here.

These days it is getting increasingly difficult to find employable engineers. One of the most prominent reasons for this is the lack of awareness amongst the students about their own potential, the current industry trends and also their inability to display confidence through effective communication skills. After having hopped from one bandwagon to another during their entire duration of time as a student, it can be a difficult task for a student to analyze his own strengths and effectively decide on a career goal.

To address these challenges, this department mainly focuses upon building the inherent potential of a student through ways such as effective counselling, improving career choice & decision making skills by facilitating workshops from industrialists/experts/entrepreneurs on relevant topics and other such measures. The idea is to achieve an Engineer who is not just a bag of skills but also an individual who is completely aware of the industry requirements displaying the charisma required to excel in any of his chosen fields.
