About P. A. College of Engineering

P. A. College of Engineering is an Engineering college located in Karnataka, India. It is situated at Konaje, 25 km from Mangalore. P.A.C.E. was founded in 1999 by the Kerala-based businessman Dr. P. A. Ibrahim. Approximately 1,450 engineering students graduate each year.

PACE  was established in the year 2000 under the aegis of PAET, with an aim to provide a career-oriented professional education and to produce technically competent engineers with moral and ethical values. The institution is dedicated to promote an effective learning environment that encourages excellence and diversity in thoughts and endeavour.

PACE is affiliated to the Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belgaum and is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi, recognized by the Government of Karnataka and is certified to ISO 9001-2008.

P. A. College of Engineering which instituted with a total intake of 240 students- 60 students each in four disciplines of Engineering, has now grown in leaps and bounds. Over the 15 years, new undergraduate programs, postgraduate programmes in various branches of engineering, MBA courses and Research programmes were added to meet the growing demand in the industry and the intake has been increased to 630 in Engineering courses. Teaching and research facilities at PACE are already among the best and continues to improve. Well qualified faculty with international reputation, a well developed campus and outstanding infrastructure makes PACE much sought after for technical and management education. The institution regularly invites experts from industry and academia for interaction with students. While helping the students to reach their full potential, PACE also offers innumerable opportunities for extracurricular activities that match nearly every interest.

1. Anti Sexual Harassment Committee

The College has also set up Anti-Sexual Harassment Committee to deal with matters related to the prevention of sexual harassment and gender discrimination in the college campus. The Grievance boxes have been installed in the college campus.

2. Anti Ragging Committee

In order to curb the menace of ragging PACE has formed an anti-ragging committee to make Ragging Free Campus.

3. Infrastructure

The PACE campus is dotted with lush green landscape, fully developed internal roads and street lights. Beautifully landscaped gardens on campus help the students refuel their mind and body after classes.

The class rooms have been well designed and adequately ventilated. Well equipped computer labs are open to the students and staff. Training sessions for hardware and software are regularly conducted. All labs are network-enabled and connected to the internet through a centralized server room with a 50Mbps dedicated BSNL line. Well equipped separate workshops have been assigned for sheet metal fabrication, welding, carpentry and turning/fitting.

The central library has a good collection of books, periodicals, journals and newspapers. Dedicated reading areas are provided for students and staff. A computer zone, microfilming area, documentation centre and an audio visual room are also available.

Separate boys and girls hostels are located on campus. An independent Principal’s Bungalow has been specially constructed to accommodate the Principal on campus. A guest house on campus provides accommodation for visiting faculty and guests. An independent auditorium is being built for special programs. A gym, football & cricket grounds, basketball, volleyball & badminton courts are all meant for the release of excessive energy in our students.

An effluent treatment plant takes care of our watering requirements. A postal center and a bank extension counter functional in the campus. Diesel generators and transformers ensure uninterrupted power supply for the entire campus. A professional security agency provides round-the-clock security in the campus.

4. Grievance Redressal Committee

A Grievance Redressal Committee is functioning in our college to settle the genuine grievance of the stake holders & also create a healthy relationship among the students, parents, employees & employer. A complaint box is provided in different blocks & also online Grievance Redressal Mechanism is implemented.

5. Transport – PACE

College bus facility is available for students who commute daily. The transport department runs 20 buses to various routes in Mangalore, Surathkal and Kasargod region and ensures safe and hassle free transport to all students and staff. The facility is made available to the students at reasonable charges depending upon routes and pickup/drop points opted by them. The students have to register for the transport facility at the time of admission and renew the same every year. Separate bus facility for girls is available for their safe and comfortable travel.

6. Bank & ATM

Vijaya bank has an extension counter which operates within the campus. ATM services by Vijaya bank and Corporation bank are also available within the campus for easy financial transactions.

7. Gymnasium

A well equipped gymnasium is available within campus for students and faculty.

 

8. Locker

Locker facility is available in the academic block for safe keep of students’ belongings. Students can register for the locker at the time of admissions.

9. Class rooms and Labs

Class rooms are well designed and ventilated, with audio visual teaching aids to make learning meaningful. Laboratories and workshops are well equipped with modern and sophisticated equipments.

10. Seminar Halls and Auditorium

Guest lectures, conferences and other events are conducted in the seminar halls and multipurpose halls. A 2000 capacity Auditorium with audiovisual facility for organizing National/International conferences, workshops and seminars is just conceived in the campus.

11. Wi-Fi enabled campus

The campus is Wi-Fi enabled with an internet speed of 55mbps. This facility allows students to access uninterrupted Internet connectivity anywhere within the campus.

12. Cafeteria & Store

The spacious cafeteria serves a variety of hygienically prepared food. Separate dining area is available for girls, boys and staff members. Both vegetarian and non vegetarian food is available. The departmental store is well stocked with all the necessary items for students and staff.

13. Others

Other facilities within the campus include postal and courier service, photocopy and binding and laundry services. Diesel generators and transformers ensure uninterrupted power supply for the entire campus. As an eco-friendly attempt to conserve water, an Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) has been setup to provide recycled water for gardens in the campus.

P. A. College of Engineering Library and information center is not only mere treasure house of information but also laboratory of knowledge and nerve center of intellectual activity of our institution. It is located in spacious Independent block with area of 11,500 sq.ft.

Library Collection

At present the library has 30,264 volumes of books covering all branches of engineering and reference books like encyclopedia, hand books, dictionaries, GATE, GRE books & literature books. In addition to the library 782 project reports, 1033 bound volumes of journals and also ITDP Book bank collection of 1019 books.

E-Journals and magazines

The library subscribes following online journals and 136 printed copies of national and international journals and magazines, which is useful for general reference as well as research works.

Membership

The institution has ILL facility and also institutional membership of DELNET, VTU and e-VIDYA.

Library Systems

The library follows OPEN ACCESS systems. Books and bound volumes are classified and catalogued according to DDC 21 & 22 and arranged accordingly.

Library Automation

The library is entirely computerized using Easylib Library Automation software to facilitate manage and search of library resources. Computers are provided for OPAC, by using it readers can easily locate the title, author, location of the books and also to know the status of the books, arrivals of journals and magazines etc. The books and readers cards are bar-coded to speed up the circulation works.

Digital Library and Internet

The library has internet browsing area for browsing e-journals. The institute also has an intensive Digital Library consisting of around 2767 CD-ROM’s, 225 Floppies , which can be viewed in the library as well as copy the contents.

Web based Digital Library System is also functional in our college library by using Techfocuz Digital Library 4.0 Software. In which staff and students can share their articles, downloaded files and utilize the Library repositories like Book CD/DVDтАЩs and journal CD/DVDs, Syllabus copy, Question papers, paper clippings, PACE photo albums and all other forms of digitized information at whole college campus. This system can be accessed by pointing the Web browser 172.22.44.254 and CD emulator software.

Library Facilities

The library has ample reading facilities with a seating capacity of 120 students. The library offers photo copying, duplicating and binding, Document Scanning facilities to the readers at low nominal cost. College Book bank facilities provided to the students and staffs and Book Bank facilities for SC/ST students also available.

Staff

The library is maintained by well qualified 12 numbers of staffs and supporting staff. Thus our library plays key role in smart work of education and to build quality engineers. Having provided with abundant facilities to benefit the students, they are encouraged to use them intensively.

Sports form a very important component of extra-curricular activities. It is an activity that promotes a spirit of competitiveness amongst the students. Sports activities encourage team work and healthy competition.

In order to make the vision of our institute a reality, the sports activities in our college aims at grooming talents and making the student strong ethics and well groomed to face future challenges. In view of this, we have started the sports activities right from the beginning of the institute by appointing qualified Physical Education Director and full fledged infrastructure.

The vision of the Department of physical Education, P. A. College of Engineering is very clear, the all round development in the character building of the students. With the rich tradition of sports, students with dedication, devotion and determination can make their career a great success. By taking part in sports the students will gain a lot of mental and physical fitness which he cannot achieve by reading books.

Sports improve emotional well being, self confidence and leadership qualities. It can build the character of a student and inculcates the team building skills. It can find the hidden talents and improves interaction with diverse sets of people.

ISTE PACE chapter

Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) was established with the view to advance the cause of technical education. The major objective of the ISTE is to assist and contribute in the production and development of top quality professional engineers and technicians required by the industries and other organizations.

The ISTE chapter of P. A. College of Engineering was inaugurated in 2006. The society regularly conducts seminars, workshops and symposia to improve and update the knowledge of faculty and students. ISTE Pace Chapter also conducts Tathvai. A state level inter-collegiate technical fest every year. Tathva includes various events like Paper presentation, Quiz, Mock press, Robowars, Truss Making, Circuit Rig up, Web designing and many more.

PACE Fest

PACE Fest is conducted every year in the campus, where the students get an opportunity to exhibit their talent.

AESTUS -16

AESTUS 2K16 – A two day fest for Engineering students of P. A. College of Engineering was held on 26th & 27th of February 2016. AESTUS 2K16 was inaugurated by Dr. Abdul Sharief, Principal PACE on 26th February Morning. The fest consisted of more than forty events which included both Technical & Non-Technical and cultural events. The programs were coordinated by Prof. Shiny Mathew, Prof. Rashel Sarkar and Prof. Shohaib Kamal of PACE.

Valedictory program was conducted on 27th afternoon. Dr. Ramis M.K. (Vice Principal), Prof. Surfraz Hashim J. (Director Academics), Dr. Antony A.J. (Dean of Students Affairs) and Prof. Nabeel Ahemad (Cultural Co-ordinator) were also present during the Valedictory program. The overall championship of AESTUS 2K16 was bagged by the department of Mechanical Engineering.

TECHNOTHON

Technothon is an inter-collegiate technical fest conducted every year at college campus.

Technothon’16

PACE Technothon’16- a state level inter collegiate technical fest was organized by P.A. College of Engineering, Mangaluru, on 12 th April 2016.The fest included 20 events specific to different engineering branches and 5 general events. The engineering events were held under 4 groups namely Cybertron (Computer science & Engg.), Sthapathi (Civil Engg.), Isaret (Electronics, Electrical Engg. and Biotechnology) and Entice (Mechanical Engg.). The events tested the skills of participants in coding, design, creativity, general knowledge and paper presentation. Over 400 participants from various Engineering colleges have taken part in this fest.

Tathva

Tathva, a state level intercollegiate technical fest is conducted every year by Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE) – PACE Chapter.

Tahthva – 15

Tathva’15 was conducted on 17th October, 2015 at P.A. College of Engineering campus. Tathva’15 had various events like Paper presentation, Quiz, Mock press, Robowars, Truss Making, Circuit Rig up, Web designing and many more. More than 300 students from the various colleges in the state participated in the event and exhibited their talents.

Mr. Kishore Alva- Executive Director, Project Development and Corporate Affairs UPCL, Udupi was the Chief Guest for the valedictory ceremony of Tathva’15. He appreciated the enthusiasm within the student community and advised them to find innovative ways to meet the energy crisis facing around us. Dr. Abdul Sharief, Principal presided the function. Prof. Divya Shetty welcomed the gathering. Ms. Sreelaxmi, proposed the vote of thanks. The overall championship was bagged by St Joseph Engineering College.

SCIENTIFICA

Scientifica is an intercollegiate science exhibition and competition held by P. A. College of Engineering. The main objective of this programme was to popularize science and technology in the young minds.

SCIENTIFICA 2K15

Scientifica 2K15 was conducted on 31st October 2015 at the college campus. More than 450 students participated from 40 colleges of Utharakannada, Udupi, Mangalore, Kasargod and Kannur Districts in various events such as Quiz, Collage, drawing, essay writing, elocution and science model competition and exhibition. This one day programme saw enthusiastic youngsters competing with zeal, speaking their hearts out and displaying artistic skill along with exhibiting science models and explaining the working principle and its benefits to the society.

Viveka P.U College,Kota won first place in the science model competition and Sharada PU College,Mangalore won second place. In quiz competition the first prize was bagged by Sharada PU College, Mangalore and second prize by MES Chaithanya PU College Shirsi. Sharada PU College, Mangalore won first place in the drawing competition and second prize by ST. Agnes P U College Mangalore. Expert P. U College of Mangalore bagged first price in elocution competition and Govindas P. U. College, Surathkal bagged the second price. Sharada PU College, Mangalore won overall champions trophy. Each technical departments of the college organized exhibits to show case and impregnate the idea of specialized branches among the students. Students were exposed to truss making, 3D modeling and surveying in the Civil Engineering department.

Programme started at 9.00 am with registration lasted till 4.30pm in the evening. Prof. Chandrashekar Shetty from Dept of Physics, St Aloysius College Mangalore, Conducted the Quiz Programme. In the valedictory programme Prof. Chandrashekar Shetty, Professor and Coordinator, PG programme, St. Aloysius College, Mangalore, Dr. Abdul Sharief (Principal), Dr. Ramis M K (Vice Principal), Dr. Krishna Prasad N, and Prof. Ismail Shaffi, and Ms. Divya Shetty were the dignitaries on the Dias. The organizers of the committee, Prof. Ismail Shaffi welcomed the guests, Dr. Krishna Prasad N. gave introductory speech, and Prof. Divya Shetty thanked the gathering. Price distribution was organized by Prof. John Valder, HOD, Department of EEE, and Prof. Fathimath Rehana of Department of EEE. Ms. Jameela Ruhi and Ms. Rim Juleka compeered the entire programme.

 

P. A. College of Engineering – Social Outreach 

Student Empowerment Programs

P. A. College of Engineering conducted Student Empowerment Programmes in various educational institutions as a part of the outreach programmes. This program aims to positively affect people by inspiring them in their personal, social and professional environments.

Prof. Surfaraz Hasim J., Director (Academics) of PACE conducted training sessions on Explore Your Mind in a number of schools and colleges in Kasargod, Mangalore and UAE. The session included Auto suggestions, limitless and limiting words, mind relaxation, goal setting, self hypnosis, positive mental attitude & its advantages, memory issues & studying techniques, energizing songs etc. This workshop helps the students to increase the concentration and confidence level, increase the efficiency in learning and to reduce the stress.

HOPE – Hope for Oppressed People’s Elevation

HOPE was started by a group of like minded people from P.A. College of Engineering. The Team conducts various activities to help the neighbouring society. Distribution of school kits to students in the local village areas, Visit to Pashchim Rehabilitation Centre, Ullal, cartoon campaigns and competition in Thangu Dhama Ashram, Mangalore etc are few of the recent activities.

RTH – Rise to Help

RTH was started by a student group who believe that there is a need for change in the current definition of humanity. RTH conducts various activities to help the under privileged people. The members collect food packets from various sponsors and distribute to the needy.

NSS – National Service Scheme

The NSS activities at PACE provides the students with ample opportunities to serve society and foster a sense of selfless service to humanity. NSS unit at PACE regularly organizes camps and other social programs that help members to develop their social responsibility.
