  • Overview: NIOS (National Institute of Open Schooling) Formerly known as National Open School. The name was changed in 2002. NIOS is a board of education under Union Government of India.
  • The NIOS is a national board that administers examinations for Secondary and Senior Secondary examinations of open schools similar to the CBSE and the CISCE to increase literacy and provides education to rural and urban areas. It also offers vocational courses after high school.

NIOS Application 2019:

The NIOS online admission for class 10 and 12 is available for Stream I Block II. Description of the streams has been given below.

Stream 1 – This stream for NIOS 2019 registration is open for all the learners-secondary and senior secondary courses.

Stream 2 –  This stream for online admission is open for candidates who had appeared for the exam, but could not pass the exam.

Stream 3 – This stream is open for NIOS registration for class 10th. Those who have passed the secondary exam, but wish to appear for one subject or up to 4 subjects for enhancing their score can apply for stream 4 through on-demand examination system.

Stream 4 – This stream is open for NIOS registration for class 12th. Those who have passed the senior secondary exam, but wish to appear for one subject or up to 4 subjects for enhancing their score can apply for stream 4 through on-demand examination system.

NIOS 2019 Eligibility Criteria for class 10th & 12th

  • Name of Candidate: Write your name in block letters, in English.   • Your father’s and mother’s name should tally with your previous records. This will be recorded in the Certificate.No change will be permitted later on.   • Guardian’s/Institution’s Name: Write Guardian’s/Institution’s name in case of Orphan.

  • Subject choices: Write code No. of the subjects chosen as per the Table-1 in the Prospectus.

  • Economically Backward Class (EBC): Write 1 for EBC for those whose family Annual income from all sources does not exceed Rs. 1.5 lakh per year. 2 for Not Applicable.
  • Ex-Serviceman: Write 1 for Yes and 2 for No.
  • Whether you are applying for Transfer of Credit (TOC): Write 1 for Yes and 2 for No.
  • Amount of Fee paid: The admission fee is to be paid online only as per Tables 4 and 6. No fee should be paid through cash or through Demand Draft.
  • Note: In case of refund of fee in the event of not confirmation of admission as per policy, the amount will be refunded in the Bank Account/Debit/Credit Card/Wallets or any other payment method through which the Payment was made online.

NIOS Hall Ticket

  • Visibility: Admit card for the students during the exam is very necessary. The National Open School will not allow those students without the admit card in the exam centre. Each an every student should have their own admit card.
  • Admit card contains the students’ Name, Roll Number, Branch, Father Name and the rules and regulation of the exam of the NIOS Secondary/Sr. Secondary.
  • Validity: The Admit Card is valid with the proper date. If the students those who don’t have the proper date in the admit card then serious action will be taken against them.
  • If the Admit Card is not correct according to the student details then he/she can complain to the National Open School or school authorities.
  • Cross Verification: Verification of the admit card is very necessary towards each an every student who is going to attempt the examination of NIOS 10th/12th Board.

NIOS Open Board Admit Card Details 2019

NIOS Board Intermediate/SSC Instruction to Candidates:

  • Candidates should verify the entries printed in the Hall Ticket carefully. Any discrepancy should be brought to the notice of the principal of their college for rectification.
  • Candidates should read carefully the instructions printed on the answer book. The Registration Number noted in the hall ticket should tally with the Registration Number printed on the OMR barcoded sheet supplied.
  • Candidates should collect the correct OMR sheet form the invigilator. Pinning of a wrong barcoded sheet will lead to the wrong declaration of results.
  • Candidates should occupy the seats allotted to them in the examination hall 15 minutes before the commencement of the examination. After that, no student will be allowed to enter into the examination hall.
  • Candidates should carry their Hall Ticket to the Examination Hall for inspection by the Chief Asst. Superintendent/ Department Officer of the Examination Centre or any officer authorized for this purpose.
  • Candidates should verify that they are receiving the correct question paper form the concerned invigilator.
  • Candidates should not write their names/ Register Number in any part of the answer book.
  • Candidates should maintain strict silence in the Examination Hall.
  • Candidates are liable to be booked under malpractices act if they indulge in:

NIOS 2019 Important Information

National Open School Registration 2019

  • The exam calendar for National Open Board has been released on the month of October. So, last week of October will be the last month for Registration of exam forms.
  • The registration form will be officially available on the official site of the board in the PDF format.
  • It is said that the starting of exam registration form will be started from October 3rd. 20th of October will be the last date of registration form submission.

National Open School Admit Card 2019

  • The official website of NIOS i.e www.nios.ac.in will release the Admit card for Matric/intermediate students.
  • The Admit cards can be downloaded by students from 17th January 2019 to 20th January 2019.
  • The School authority also can download the National Open School admit card and issue to the students with a stamp and signature.

National Open School Results 2019

  • The first week of June will be the date of release of the result of NIOS Board for Secondary and Sr.Secondary Classes.

How to check National Open Board 12th Results 2019, step by step process:

The following are the steps to check the results of the National Open School 10th/12th 2019-

  • Candidates need to visit the official website of the NIOS Board.
  • After the entering of the National Open Board, candidates need to login to the page.
  • If the candidates do not have proper username and password then he/she cannot log in to the page so verified username and password is required.
  • If the candidates do not have a username and password then he/she must be created by clicking on the register button.
  • For the registration, candidates need to fill all the field that website page asked for.
  • After the login, the candidates need to click on the results menu.
  • The results menu shows the results of class 12th and results of class 10th.
  • Candidates need to click on class 12th results if they are looking for Sr.secondary result and class 10th if they are looking for secondary Results.
  • After clicking the class 12th/10th results, candidates need to enter the registration number or symbol number and the date of birth of the candidates.
  • After the completion, candidates need to click on the Get Results button.
  • The results will be displayed on the screen with the obtained marks that the candidates have got.
  • Candidates can download the results for the further use.
  • In this way, candidates can check their results.

Registration for On-Demand NIOS Examination (ODE)

  • In order to avail the facility of On Demand Examination System (ODES), the learner has to be a registered one as a bonafide learner of NIOS having the Enrolment Number and a valid Identity Card.

  • The learners of Stream-1 Blocks I & II can seek online ODE registration only after April/May 2019 and October/November 2019 public examinations.

  • The Examination fee for ODE is as under :Secondary level Rs.500/- + Rs.200/- extra for subject involving practicalSenior Secondary level Rs.500/- + Rs.200/- extra for subject involving practical
  • A candidate can appear for ODE at the concerned Regional Centre or at NIOS Headquarters, Noida or in the concerned Kendriya Vidyalaya. Learners of Delhi Region can appear for ODE at NIOS Headquarters, NOIDA, Uttar Pradesh. The overseas learner can appear from any of the ODE Centres of NIOS.
  • On-Demand Examination fee can be paid either through Credit Card, Debit Card or Net Banking.
  • The Mark Sheets and other documents will be prepared only for overall pass candidates by M&M Unit, Department of Evaluation, NIOS and will be sent to the concerned Regional Centres for despatch to individual learners.
  • Other learners wanting Mark Sheet can send their requests through an application attaching the Internet print out and a bank draft of Rs. 100/- in favour of ‘Secretary, NIOS’, payable at NOIDA to the Assistant Director (M&M Unit), National Institute of Open Schooling, A-24-25, Institutional Area, Sector-62, NOIDA-201309, Uttar Pradesh.
  • Seeking ODE online registration twice a month in a particular subject is not permissible.
  • NOTE: NIOS does not issue any Bonafide/Transfer/School Leaving/Character/ Date of Birth Certificate separately to its learners.

Improvement of Performance

  • NIOS allows the learner to apply again in a subject which he/she has already passed for improvement of performance but only once in Public Examination.
  • The learner has to apply for improvement in the same manner as for appearing in the first examination by paying the required fee. This change can be availed only once in each subject within five years from the year of admission in Public Examination.
  • For subjects involving practical, the learner will have to appear in both theory and practice for the improvement of his/her performance. Better of the two results would be considered and indicated in the Mark Sheet. NIOS will issue only Mark Sheet if he/she is already certified.
  • In the case of ODES, the learner can appear in as much time for improvement of performance till his/her satisfaction. However, the learner cannot appear in the ODE in a particular subject twice in the same month.

Issue of Marksheet and Certificate for Public Examination:

  • The learner shall receive a Marksheet on the declaration of result through his/her AI. Provisional and Migration Certificate will be issued to successful learners only. The Pass Certificate will be issued in about six months after the declaration of the result.
  • In case the learner passes in additional subject(s) or in case of improvement of performance in one or more subjects, no fresh Migration or Pass Certificate will be issued. The learner will be issued only a Marksheet. No Migration Certificate will be issued to learners unless they complete their courses of study.
  • Note: In case any discrepancy is noticed by the learner in the result after the declaration of the result of Public Examination/On Demand Examination, he/she will have to apply for the same to the concerned Regional Director within 30 days of the declaration of the result along with the incorrect documents issued by NIOS, failing which no request will be entertained.
