NATA 2019 | Exam Pattern, Eligibility, Application & Other Details

NATA 2019 or National Aptitude Test in Architecture will be held by the Council of Architecture. The examination is held to select candidates for 5-year architecture courses in various participating institutions. The test is held annually and the scores are valid for two years. The NATA 2019 examination will consist of two parts, where PART A will test the candidate’s maths and general aptitude and will be a computer-based test, PART B will test candidate’s drawing skills and will be an offline pen and paper-based test.

Diploma holders are also eligible to apply for the test. NATA is one of the most widely recognised scores and many public and private institutions accept it for admissions into their architecture course. A total of 60000 students are expected to attend the examination. The exam pattern and all the relevant details are provided in the table below:

Important Dates of NATA 2019

Candidates planning on taking the examination need to keep the following important dates in mind. In case if the aspirant misses on any of the important dates, no extension under any circumstances will be provided. It is in the best interest of the candidate to complete all the respective tasks immediately after the commencement of the respective dates:

Eligibility Criteria

Candidates who wish to take the NATA 2019 examination must keep the following eligibility criteria in mind. Only those candidates who meet the minimum set criteria are allowed to take the examination. No relaxation in any of the criteria will be entertained unless specifically mentioned by the conducting body:

  • Must have completed their 10+2 examination with a minimum of 50% from any of the recognised institution.
  • Diploma holders who have done their education in 10+3 pattern are also eligible to apply for the examination. The diploma must be from any of the recognised body.
  • Any candidate must have mathematics as one of their optional subjects.
  • There are no age limits for candidates appearing for the NATA 2019 examination.
  • Lateral entry admissions are not allowed for any of the BArch courses.
  • There is no special relaxation provided for reserved category candidates.

How to apply for NATA 2019

If the aspirant meets the minimum eligibility criteria then he/she can proceed to take the following steps in order to successfully apply for the examination. In order to successfully apply for the test:

  1. Go to the official website of NATA 2019 examination.
  2. Press on the Register Now button and fill all the required information to sign up on the portal. A registration number and password will be sent to your email ID to validate the account.
  3. Login to the portal again using registration number and password provided in the email and start filling up the details in the required fields. Only those applications which have provided complete details will be provided with an admit card and allowed to write the examination.
  4. After filling up the form, the candidate can then proceed to upload their respective signature, left thumb impression and photo. Candidates must also upload their community certificate, if applicable.
  5. Proceed to pay a fee of ₹1250 through any of the online portals towards the council of architecture. For candidates hailing from Dubai, the application fees are ₹7000.

Admit Card

The admit card of the NATA 2019 examination will be provided on 2nd week of April 2019. To get their admit cards candidates have to go through the following process. If any errors were spotted on the admit card, candidates have to immediately contact the authorities to make the required changes.   1. Go to the official website of NATA 2019
  2. Log in to your account through the online portal using the registration number and password provided during the time of registration.
  3. Click on the Admit Card button and download the admit card.
  4. Take a printout of the same as it will be required at the time of entering the examination hall.

Along with the admit card, candidates are expected to bring any of the government-sanctioned identity proof with them. In case if the candidate fails to bring any of the required documents to the examination hall, the application shall stand cancelled and they won’t be allowed to write the examination. The applicants are expected to keep the admit card safe until the end of the admission process.

NATA 2019 Results

The results for the NATA 2019 examination will be announced on the first week of June 2019. To view the scores, the candidate can log on to the official website of NATA 2019. Along with the scores of the student, a merit list and their overall percentile scores will also be announced with them. The percentile score is calculated based on the score obtained by other candidates, the highest score is provided with a 100 percentile and other scores are derived based on it. To get the results card, the candidate can take the following procedure:

  1. Go to the official website of NATA 2019.
  2. Log in to the portal using the registration number and password provided during the application process.
  3. Press on the Download scorecard button to download the results card.
  4. Take a printout of the scorecard as it will be required during the admission process.

For admissions, the overall score is calculated for 200 marks and overall qualifying score will be based on 25% marks for Part A, 25% for Part B and the number of exam takers and seat availability. In case of any tie in the score obtained by candidates, the following factors will be considered to break the tie:

  1. The score in the mathematics section.
  2. The number of questions answered incorrectly.
  3. The score in General Aptitude section.
  4. The number of question answered incorrectly in the General Aptitude section.
  5. Date of Birth of the candidates.

Counselling Procedure

Aspirants have to register separately for the counselling process. In order to be considered for the counselling, students have to take a minimum of 25% in both Part A and Part B, and should be provided within the validity duration. During the counselling session, the candidates must bring the following documents along with them for verification:

  • 10th standard mark sheet.
  • 12th standard mark sheet
  • NATA 2019 scorecard.
  • Reservation certificate, if applicable.
  • Birth Certificate, if applicable.
