About Dr T Thimmaiah Institute of Technology
Dr T. Thimmaiah Institute of Technology (Formerly Known as Golden Valley Institute of Technology – GVIT) was started in the year 1986 at Kolar Gold Fields by Dr T. Thimmaiah, Ph. D., (London), IAS (Retired), as the founder President under the aegis of Golden Valley Educational Trust, with the sole purpose of imparting quality technical education.
Dr T. Thimmaiah Institute of Technology is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), in Karnataka and is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) and at present offers Degree Courses in Engineering
The college works on fundamental key sectors:
1. Planning
Detailed lesson plans are prepared before the start of a semester.
2. Implementation
Implementation of the teaching process is recorded in a Teaching Diary on a day-to-day basis
3. Review
A weekly review is held at the department level to monitor the progress of the syllabus coverage and if any problems are observed, immediate corrective actions are initiated.
4. Feedback
Feedback obtained from the students at the end of a semester is used to determine a composite Faculty Competence Index (FCI) for every staff member.
The FCI measures the performance of a staff member along the dimensions of academic effectiveness, discipline and attitude. This index, as well as raw feedback data if required, is utilized to plan improvements in the effectiveness of the staff members.
5. Survey
At the end of an academic year, a comprehensive Student Satisfaction Survey is conducted on a sampling basis to identify and prioritize the performance gaps that need to be addressed.
The survey covers all aspects of the functioning of the Institute and includes issues like Instructional Effectiveness of the departments, Quality of Central Facilities like the Library and Internet, Support from various functional units like the Examination div, Administrative div, Adequacy of Infrastructure Facilities like Parking Space, Canteen etc.
A committee analyzes this data to prepare the action plan for improving the quality of the services provided to the students.

Admission To I Year / I Semester Bachelor Degree In Engineering / Technology Shall Be Open To The Candidates Who Have Passed The Second Year Pre-University Or Xii Standard Or Equivalent Examination Recognized By The University.
In Addition To Ob 2.1, The Candidate Shall Have Secured Not Less Than Forty-Five Per Cent (45%) Marks In The Aggregate With Physics And Mathematics As Compulsory. Subjects, Along With Any One Of The Following Subjects Namely Chemistry, Bio-Technology, Computer Science, Biology And Electronics.
Provided That, The Minimum Marks For The Purpose Of Eligibility Shall Be Forty Per Cent (40%) In Optional Subjects In Case Of Candidates Belonging To Sc/St And Obc Candidates From Karnataka.
