CLAT 2019 | Application, Important Dates, Eligibility & Other Details
CLAT 2019: Common Law Admission Test is held by National Law University every year for selecting candidates for undergraduate law courses at 21 National Law Universities present throughout the country. This year’s CLAT examination will be conducted by National Law University Odisha, Cuttack. Various degrees a candidate can pursue under this examination are, BA LLB, BSc LLB, BCom LLB and BBA LLB. This is a 2-hour examination and will be conducted in the English language. This is a highly competitive examination with over 51000 candidates competing for 1300 seats.
Important Dates of CLAT 2019
Candidates who wish to appear for the examination must keep the following dates in mind. No extension under any circumstances will be provided for candidates who missed out on any of the dates. It is in the best interest of the candidates to immediately complete the task after the commencement of the respective dates. The important dates are:

Eligibility Criteria
Candidates who are appearing for this year’s CLAT examination must be aware of the following eligibility criteria. The admit cards will be provided only to those candidates who meet the criteria. No relaxation under any circumstances will be provided to candidates who fail to meet the criteria unless specified so by the Bar Council of India.
- Must have completed his or her +2 examination from any of the recognised board in India.
- Candidates belonging to the general category should have secured a minimum of 45% in +2 examination and candidates belonging to SC and ST category should have secured a minimum of 40%.
- There is no age restriction for the candidates to write the CLAT 2019 examination.
How to Apply for CLAT 2019 examination
Candidates who meet the eligibility criteria and wish to appear for the CLAT 2019 examination must take the following procedure in order to successfully apply for the examination. Only completed application before the deadline date will be accepted and the candidate will be allowed to write the examination. The application procedure for CLAT 2019 examination is:
- Go to the official website of National Law University Odisha, Cuttack and click on the examination link.
- Register for an account in the portal using a valid email ID and after registration, a registration number and password will be sent to the email address.
- Log in to the portal using the registration number and password. Candidates have to use the portal for various purposes such as for downloading the admit card and result card. Hence candidates must safeguard the registration number and password details.
- Fill up all the required fields in the application form with correct details. Only complete and correct application forms will be provided with admit cards.
- The candidates then have to upload a soft copy of their photo and signature. The soft copies must be required format and sizes.
- The page will transition to the payment gateway after all the required details have been provided. An application fee of ₹4000 has to be made through any of the online payment methods. There are no concessions given to candidate belonging to reserved categories.
- Press the SUBMIT button if the application process is completed. Before pressing the button, check the application form again as there will be no provisions provided to edit the application form after pressing the SUBMIT button.
- Take a printout of the application form for future references.
Exam Pattern
Candidates who are planning to write the CLAT 2019 examination must keep the following pattern in mind. The knowledge of exam pattern will help an aspirant to better prepare for the examination and avoid any surprises at the last moment. The exam pattern of this year’s examination is:

The admit card for CLAT 2019 will be provided after a month of the application deadline. To obtain the admit card, the candidate has to log in to the official portal with the help of registration number and password provided during the registration process. After logging into the portal. The candidate can proceed to download the admit card and take a printout of it. To gain admission into the examination hall, the candidate must bring the printout of the admit card as well as a proof of identity such as driving license, aadhar card, PAN card etc.
Result and Counselling Process
The result of the CLAT 2019 examination will be declared on May 31 of 2019. A shortlist of candidates along with the minimum required cutoff marks will be released with the results. To check the results the applicants have to log in to the official portal with the registration number and password provided during the registration process. Download the result card as it will be required during the counselling process. If the candidate scores above the minimum required cutoff marks he or she will be called for the counselling process. In the counselling process, the candidates are expected to bring the following documents along with them:
- Printout of the completely filled application form.
- Admit Card
- Results Card
- Marksheet of Xth Std.
- Marksheet of XIIth Std.
- Caste certificate, if applicable.
- Disability certificate from a qualified medical practitioner, if applicable.
- Domicile certificate, if applicable.
- Cate certificate, if applicable.
