IIMs are the most prominent and reputed business schools in India and ranks among the best in the world. B-School Entrance Exams are one of the most popular exams in India and among them, Common Admission Test is the only gateway to the prestigious Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) thus making it the most popular admission test in India. Even if you fail to secure a good percentile in CAT, there is a whole host of other MBA entrance examinations in India which you can take to get admitted into the other premier Business institutions in India. The most notable ones being XAT, CMAT, MAT, SNAP among others. A list of popular exams is provided below which you have to take into consideration:

 

Common Management Admission Test (CMAT)

Common Management Admission Test is one of the most popular B-School Entrance Exams and it was conducted by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) till 2018 and will be held by Nationa Testing Agency (NTA), a newly formed body by Government of India from 2019 onwards. CMAT is a national level entrance examination conducted for over 400+ management institutions across the country registered under them. Some of the top colleges in which you can get admission to after taking CMAT are LN Welingar Institute of Management, Taxila Business School, KJ Sowmiya Institute of Management Studies, Great Lakes Institute of Management Studies and Birla Institute of Management Technology among others. The exam is conducted in the month of January every year and the registration process starts around November. The examination is held in 62 centres across the country and is exclusively conducted in the online mode. The scores are valid only for one year after you have taken the examination but there is no limit in the number of tries you can take. CMAT is only second to CAT in terms of popularity and number of students attempting it. In 2018, around 2 lakh students have taken the test.

 

Management Aptitude Test (MAT)

All India Management Association (AIMA) conducts the Management Aptitude Test (MAT) and is held four times every year in the month of February, May, September and December, and is taken by lakhs of students each year. Around 600+ BSchools in India as well some institutions accept MAT scores to provide admissions into their management program. Birla Institute of Management Technology, National Institutes of Technology and ITM Group of Institutions are some of the major schools which accept MAT scores. The AIMA is not responsible for the institutions accepting their scores and the responsibilities lie solely in the hands of the students to check the accreditation and legitimacy of the institution in which they are applying. The B-School Entrance Exams are conducted in two phases and is held in both online and offline versions.

 

Symbiosis National Aptitude (SNAP) Test

Symbiosis National Aptitude Test is held by Symbiosis International Deemed University and is held to provide admissions into one of their 15 esteemed colleges. Symbiosis Institute of Business Management is one of the top management colleges in India and is consistently ranked among top 10 every year. The exam is conducted all over India and is taken by lakhs of students each year. SNAP is an online mode of examination held at the month of December in 92 centres across India. Group Discussions, Personal Interview and Written test are all part of the SNAP examination and candidates must be prepared for all the required aspects of the test. Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT)

Xavier Aptitude Test or XAT is conducted by Xavier School of Management (XLRI), which is among the top business schools in India and is considered almost equivalent to the best three IIMs in terms of quality. Along with the 10 Xavier Association of Management Institutes (XAMI), XAT scores are accepted by more than 700+ institutes across the country. XLRI School of Management, St. Joseph’s Institute of Management, Loyola Institute of Business Administration (LIBA are among the top business schools which accept XAT scores. The exam is conducted in the month of January every year. Those who take the test are also eligible for a number of scholarships provided by XLRI, Jamshedpur. The test is held across 46 Indian cities and is completely an online mode of examination. There is no limit in the number of attempts you can take for the examination. Beyon CAT, XAT is the one of the most widely taken B-School Entrance Exams in India.

 

NMIMS Management Aptitude Test (NMAT)

General Management Admission Council (GMAC) which is also responsible for conducting GMAT has acquired NMAT from NMIMS institute, the leading management education entrance examination all over the world. NMAT scores are now also accepted in various B-schools in South Africa and the Philippines. There are various advantages in taking this examination as the scores obtained through this exam is accepted by some of the leading b-schools in India like Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS), ICFAI Business school, Thapar School of Management and Jindal Global Business School. More than 80000 students take the test every year held across 92 cities all over India. Those who take the test are also eligible to finance their education through HDFC Bank’s education loans. This is one of the most recognised B-School Entrance Exams outside of India.

 

Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) Exam

Indian Institute of Foreign Trade is one of the leading BSchools of India which is ranked among top 10 business schools in India each year. IIFT Exam is held for providing admissions to students into its prestigious 2 year MBA program and is held every year in the month of December. In addition to the written examination, student’s are also expected to take essay test, Personal Interview and Group Discussion. The test is held across 20 centres all over the country.

 

Andra Pradesh – Integrated Common Entrance Test (APICET)

Andra Pradesh Integrated Common Entrance Test is held for admissions into the various management programs affiliated to Andra Pradesh State Council for Higher Education (APSCHE). The examination is held across 17 cities in Andra Pradesh and is conducted by Sri Venkateshwara University, Tirupathi. The examination is conducted in the month of may every year and is an offline mode of examination.

 

Karnataka Management Aptitude Test (KMAT)

Karnataka Management Aptitude Test is a test held all over India and is conducted by Karnataka Private Post Graduate Colleges Association (KPPGCA) every year. The candidates who participate in this examination are eligible to apply for more than 160 colleges all over Karnataka which is approved by AICTE. KMAT is held thrice every year across 13 centres and the mode of examination is offline. This is one of the most popular state B-School Entrance Exams.

 

Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET)

Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET) is conducted by Anna University, Chennai for all higher educational degrees in Tamil Nadu. Those who wish to pursue management education in Tamil Nadu should also take this test. The test is held in 15 centres all over Tamil Nadu in the month of March every year. The examination is of offline mode but the applications can be provided only through online mode. Candidates from all over the country can apply for the examination and seek admission in any choice of college they want, provided they have crossed the minimum required cutoff score.
