PDA College of Engineering or Poojya Dodappa Appa College of Engineering is located at Gulbarga in the state of Karnataka, India.Type – Public (Autonomous) Established -1958 Affiliation – VTU , Belgaum. The Poojya Doddappa Appa College of Engineering, Gulbarga was founded in the year 1958 by the Hyderabad Karnataka Education society. The college is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University and approved by AICTE. It is the first college to start Ceramic and Cement Technology course in South India. Initial intake was 120 with degree offering in civil,mechanical and electrical now it offers 11 Bachelor with 980 intake, 10 Master with 193 intake and 7 Research Programmes in the various specialities of Engineering.

Training and Placement at PDA College of Engineering
The Training and Placement Office at PDA College of Engineering provides guidance on all aspects of career planning, job searching and post-graduate studies. The Cell strives to provide individual counselling for all the students towards their career goals. The College has an independent Training and Placement Office headed by a Professor designated as Training and Placement Officer and supported by a Placement Coordinator of each department.
The Training and Placement Cell has been striving continuously for the placement of the students in reputed organizations. Also, assistance is given to students who are not placed through campus interviews, to take up jobs through off campus mode. Reputed national and multinational companies visit the college for campus recruitment annually. Good number of the students secure job offers before they complete their courses.

Availability of Career Guidance facilities
The activities of career guidance is taken care by Training and Placement Cell and its activities can be classified into:
- Pre Placement training for the recruitment process in soft skills, aptitude and technical training, etc.
- Career guidance.
- Conducting placement drives.
- Assistance in industrial training and internship.
- Support to students for appearing GATE Exam.
Manpower
The Training and Placement Cell at PDA College of Engineering functions under the administrative control of Dr. Mahadevappa Gadge as Training and Placement Officer and with Mr. Avinash Sambrani as Training and Placement Coordinator, along with Department Faculty and student coordinators provide career guidance, placement training and arrange placement drives for its students.
Infrastructure
- The Training and Placement Office functions in a separate block with all audiovisual facilities for PPT, written test, group discussion and interviews.
- A well furnished training centre with 120 Core i5 systems has been setup to provide Technical training, Conduct workshops, webinars, seminars and online tests. The setup is interconnected with Local Area Network (LAN) and Internet Speed up to 100 MBPS.
- Many books and periodicals are available in the library for the students to enable them to prepare for various Civil services and competitive examinations like GATE, CAT etc.
Counselling for Higher Studies
The students are made aware of higher study opportunities by the Head of the Department/ faculty. The need for a GATE score to get employment in public sector units is highlighted. The students are encouraged to appear for GATE and the Institute motivates them by reimbursing the GATE fees. The department faculty guide/train students for their GATE preparation. This also helps the students to prepare for entrance examination conducted by the state government/Indian Universities for higher studies.
The students are also made aware of opportunities through GRE, GMAT, TOEFL/IELTS. Alumni who have done their higher studies in foreign universities conduct seminar whenever they visit the college.
Pre-Placement Training
- The placement cell organizes on-campus and off-campus recruitments and pre placement training programs in aptitude test, group discussions, interviews and presentation. The pre-placement training is embedded in the curriculum from the academic year 2016-17 as follows
o Communication Skill – I and II semester
o Soft Skills – III and IV Semester
o Aptitude – V and VI Semester
Professional trainers are hired to handle the above courses.
Earlier the Pre-Placement training was conducted for a duration of 3 to 6 days during the semester/vacation from the III semester onwards. By introducing pre-placement training as a course in the curriculum, the delivery of the course is steady, the learning is effective and the performance is measurable.
- Mock interviews and GDs are conducted from the IV semester to VI semester in the pre-placement training course to face the challenges of recruitment scenario.
Enhancement of technical skills such as Programming, Networking, Computer aided design and development etc are made through workshops. The cell motivates the students to get exposed to best industry practices through Industrial training and Internship during their vacations.
Technical and domain related sessions are conducted as Value Added Programs in related domain areas of Engineering to empower the student with the essential skill needed in industry.
From academic year 2017-18 Industry Internship Training program is made mandatory for UG students.
Placement Process and Support
The students who are interested in placement are informed to register in the Training and Placement Office (TPO) at the end of VI semester. The students are categorised under below 60, 60+, 65+ and 70+ based on their academic performance in 10th, 12th and Engineering (upto VI semester). They are further categorized under IT and non-IT related domains.
The TPO approaches the companies either in person or through mail along with the details of the students performance and invites them for the campus drive.
One student coordinator recommended by Head of the Department/Department faculty coordinator is appointed from each department. A Whatsapp group is created consisting of office bearers of TPO and department faculty and student coordinators. The student coordinators of the department in turn have a Whatsapp group of all the students of their department. All the messages from the TPO are sent in the Whatsapp group to the student coordinator, who in turn forwards it to the student of department group.
The details of the company visiting the campus along with the eligibility criteria is sent in the Whatsapp group. The interested students are informed to register their names with the TPO for the drive. On the day of drive the students attend the pre-placement talk, written/online test, Group discussion, technical and personal interview. The company officials are requested to announce the short listed students names on the day of the interview as the college follows the policy of one student one job on campus.
An employability test by Aspiring Minds – AMCAT is conducted every year for interested students. The students are tested in English language, Aptitude, Programming Skills, Domain knowledge etc. The test scores along with their strength and weakness is sent to the students. The test scores are also shared by Aspiring Minds with the companies. The companies shortlist the students and send interview letters to the students mail. Interested students attend the interview and get selected for the job.
Awareness of Career opportunities in various fields is given to the students through Seminars and invited talks by experts. Students are also made aware of opportunities in higher education in India and abroad.
Improving Linkages with Industry for Internship and Placement
The cell is making continuous efforts to enhance linkages with Industries for Internship and placement of our students. Seven MoU’s have been made by T&P Cell for placements purposes only apart from several MoU’s made at departmental level.
As per new syllabus students undertake Industry Internship which enriches their knowledge and skill and help in placements and academic progression. The T& P Cell at college facilitates student’s internship during semester break to various industries.
Different departments also organise industrial visit for students to expose them with the technologies and processes in Industry, which help them in career choice and placement.
