About Rural Engineering College

Rural Engineering College was established in 1980. Rural Engineering College (REC) has achieved an enviable status due to a strong emphasis on academic and technical excellence and has been in the forefront of imparting engineering education for over 26 years. Being the first engineering college in the North Karnataka region, it has contributed largely to the development and prosperity of the region. It currently offers 7 Under Graduate and 1 Post Graduate Courses affiliated to Visveshwaraiah Technological University, Belgaum, and is recognised by AICTE, New Delhi. The mission of R. T. E. Societys Rural Engineering College is to produce world class Engineering Professionals using the state – of – art technologies and teaching methodologies with the aim of making them responsible and better citizens.
Bheemanna Khandre Institute of Technology, Bhalki (Formerly known as Rural Engineering College, Bhalki) in Bidar district of Karnataka State, located at the northern tip of Karnataka established in September 1982 is one of the best engineering colleges not only in Karnataka but in whole of India. It has got complete characteristics of a Regional Engineering College where about 50% students are from Karnataka and the rest 50% are from all parts of India i.e. Bihar, Jharkhand, Delhi, UP, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Maharashtra, Assam, Manipur, West Bengal, Gujarat and Andhra Pradesh etc. Rural Engineering College is Approved by AICTE, New Delhi, affiliated to VTU, Belguam and sanctioned by Government of Karnataka. Its various courses are accredited by NBA, AICTE, New Delhi.

The Rural Engineering College has very magnificent building and good infrastructure featuring about 50,000 sq.m. built up area, well equipped laboratories, workshops, drawing halls, seminar halls, big library having about 58,000 books and more than 1500 journals including e-subscribed, lecture halls, computer centre, departmental computer centres, browsing centres with broadband internet connectivity, 03 boys hostels accommodating about 700 boys and 02 girls hostels accommodating 350 girls, canteen, bank, gymnasium, sport facilities, Training & Placement Cell, NSS, Student Welfare Office, EDP Cell, STEP, Co-Operative store and Consultancy Cell etc.

The College assists students in Training & Placement activities. Our placement record is 80% for eligible students. Till date more than 7200 students have passed and are well placed in Government, Private and Public sector organizations in India and abroad and they are doing very well.

The institution is the chosen centre for satellite based education training programme through EDUSAT and VSAT by VTU & ISRO. The college also acts as a Monitoring Centre for “Mahiti Sindhu” a free computer education programme for Government High School students of Bidar District. The College runs the training programs for rural students sponsored by The Government Tool room & Training Centre (GTTC). Karnataka Renewable Energy Development Ltd., Government of India and Government of Karnataka have sanctioned Solar Energy Park at our college.

There is no Capitation Fee/Donation. There is complete transparency specially in admission. For meritorious students scoring more than 75% marks and above, fee concession/scholarship is provided. Similarly top rankers of Karnataka CET students, AIEEE as well as of other States Engineering Entrance Examination also get concession in college fees / scholarship.

The Karnataka Examination Authority, Government of Karnataka conducts the entrance test and  prepares the rank list.

  • 45% of the allotted seats are filled by KEA cell on the basis of Merit.
  • 30% of the seats are filled by Comed-K.
  • 25% of the seats are filled by Management.

Admission Process and Eligibility

1. Eligibility criterion as per the extract of GO No. ED 10TEC2006 for admission to Engineering Under
Graduate Course.
2. Applicant should be a citizen of India.
3. Candidates desires to claim the seats under KEA Merit Quota Should have appeared for the KEA
Tests conducted by the KEA Cell.
4. Should have passed PUC-2 or equivalent examination securing not less than 45% aggregate of
Physics & Mathematics as compulsory subjects and one of the following optional subjects-
Chemistry, Biotechnology, Biology ,Computer Science & Electronics along with English as one of
Language.
5. Minimum marks for the purpose of eligibility in case of (SC/ST,CAT-1, II A, II B, III A &III B) Candidates
is 40% aggregate in Physics & Mathematics as compulsory subjects with one of the following
optional subjects Such as -Chemistry, Biotechnology, Biology ,Computer Science & Electronics
along with English as  one of Language.
