The Government of Karnataka established Common Entrance Test Cell in the year 1994 for conducting of Entrance Test and determining the eligibility / merit, for admission of Karnataka candidates and the ward/s of Jammu & Kashmiri migrants to the First year or First semester of full time professional courses for Government share of seats in Medical, Dental, Indian Systems of Medicine and Homoeopathy, Engineering / Architecture courses, Farm science i.e, B.Sc. (Agriculture), B.Sc. (Sericulture), B.Sc (Horticulture), B.Sc(Forestry), B.Sc. AgriBioTech, BHSc.(Home Science), B.Tech (Agri.Engg), B.Tech (Food Technology), B.Tech (Dairy Tech), B.FSc (Fisheries), B.Tech (Food Science &Tech)., B.Sc. (Agri. Marketing & Co-Op), B-Pharma, Pharma-D courses.

Admission to Government seats shall be made in accordance with the Karnataka Selection of Candidates for Admission to Government Seats in Professional Educational Institutions Rules, 2006 (in short Rules) as amended from time to time

To expand the activities of the CET Cell, the Government by order No. ED. 212 TEC 2006 dated 20-12-2006 has converted the Common Entrance Test Cell into an autonomous body registered under Societies Registration Act 1960 called “Karnataka Examinations Authority” (KEA).

Introduction to KCET 2019

  • About: Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET) is a prestigious state level entrance test conducted to offer admission into the first year of engineering & various other professional courses in colleges spread across Karnataka.
  • Admission: The seats are allocated based on the merit ranking and category of the candidates appearing for the KCET 2019. It paves way for getting admission to nearly 220 leading government and private colleges and institutes in the State of Karnataka. More than a lakh of students appear for the KCET.
  • Conducting Authority: Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA), Bangalore, conducts KCET yearly. The Common Entrance Test Cell got established in the year 1994 by the Government of Karnataka to conduct the Entrance Test for Karnataka candidates and the wards of Jammu & Kashmiri migrants for gaining admissions into professional courses. First KCET exam took place in the year 1984.
  • Courses: KCET 2019 offers undergraduate courses such as B.E./B.Tech., Pharma-B, Pharma-D, Bachelor of Veterinary Science & Animal Husbandry, Bachelor of Science in Agriculture, Forest, Sericulture, Agriculture Biotech, Horticulture and Bachelor of Home Science and many more.
  • Mode of Exam: KCET 2019 examination format will be offline mode (Pen and Paper Based test) and there will be four papers to be attempted on two different days in 2 sessions each day which candidates have to clear in the KCET 2019 exam.
  • Medical Science: Candidates who are aspiring to do Medical/Dental courses (MBBS/BDS), AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Homoeopathy) then they have to write NEET 2019 conducted by NTA.

Architecture Engineering: Candidates opting for Architecture engineering courses have to take up JEE paper-2 or NATA 2019 which is conducted by the Council of Architecture.

KCET 2019 Eligibility Criteria Overview

  • Qualification – The qualifying candidates for KCET 2019 should have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination within the Karnataka state from any recognized board with a minimum of 45% aggregate marks in the three subjects from science stream for general category.
  • Exceptions – Non-Karnataka residents.
  • Reservation – Minimum 40% in academics for SC/ST.

KCET 2019 Eligibility Criteria

  • Criteria – Candidates have to carefully read KCET Eligibility Criteria 2019 before filling the registration form.
  • Nationality – The candidate should be a resident of India.
  • Qualification – The candidates need to have passed from any govt. recognized institute within Karnataka State for at least 7 years from 1st standard to 2nd PUC and also should have cleared either SSLC/PUC examination from Karnataka board to qualify for the examination.
  • Architecture course – For admissions into Architecture stream, the candidate should take up NATA examination to be conducted by Council of Architecture (COA).
  • Eligibility Criteria – Non-Karnataka candidates are also eligible to apply for KCET 2019, including Jammu and Kashmir migrants. Students of Karnataka Open State University are considered not eligible for the KCET 2019.
  • Kannada – Candidates from Kannada medium are also eligible for KCET 2019 examination with 5% seat reservation in the total Government seats.
  • Age Limit – Candidates having completed 17 years of age before 31st Dec 2018 is deemed eligible for KCET 2019. Special Category students are given an extension of the age limit by 5 to 6 years as per eligibility.

KCET 2019 – Exam Pattern

  • Mode of Exam – Offline (Pen & Paper-based Test)
  • Time Duration – 1 hour and 20 minutes for each subject and Kannada language test is for 60 minutes.
  • Kannada – Kannada Language Test is mandatory for Horanadu and Gadinadu Kannadiga candidates.
  • Marking Scheme – 1 mark for every correct response and no negative marking for incorrect answer.
  • Languages – English and Kannada.

  • Total Marks – KCET 2019 exam is for a total of 60 marks being allotted for each section with 60 MCQs and is held for a duration of 80 minutes (10 minutes for reading and filling of details). The correct response will fetch 1 mark with no negative marking for the incorrect response.
  • Question Paper: There will be about 16 different sets of question paper and thumb impression will be taken on the optical response sheet.
  • OMR Sheet – A replica of OMR sheet will be given to the candidates to carry back home.
  • Exam Date – The KCET 2019 will be scheduled on 18th April 2019 and 19th April 2019.
  • Kannada Language Exam: Candidates who are applying for admission under Horanadu & Kannadiga category have to attend the Kannada language test held at Bangalore only on a specified date. Candidates have to get at least 12 marks out of 50 marks to gain eligibility.

KCET 2019 Application Form:

  • Application Form – The Application Form will be available on the official website for KCET 2019 on 1st February 2019 till the 26th February 2019 the last date to fill the form.
  • Mode – The candidates can fill KCET 2019 application form by Online Portal only through the website (computer-based). There is no provision for filling the form in the offline mode.
  • Information – The candidates are advised to fill the relevant details in the fields provided and upload documents. The form consists of two phases -:
    • Phase I – Candidates have the option to edit or correct the data before commencing the second phase.
    • Phase II – Once the form gets submitted no changes can be made, so recheck all the details before the final submission.
  • Declaration – Candidates should precautiously fill all the information before clicking the Declaration button for final submission of the KCET 2019 application form.
  • Payment – Candidates will have the option to select the bank from the list of its specified bank and print the challan to make payment.
  • Acknowledgment – After completing the KCET 2019 online application form, the candidates are advised to download the whole application form for further use during counseling session for document verification and online seat allotment, etc.

KCET 2019 Application Form Correction

  • Application Form Correction for KCET 2019 will start in the last week of March and will be closing before the commencement of April.
  • The candidates have the authority to change or modify to correct details in the application form within the specified date according to the eligibility criteria.
  • After making the appropriate changes, the candidates have to verify the details once again with regard to Category, Income, Academic details, etc.

Stepwise Instruction of KCET 2019 Application Form Correction

  • Step 1: Visit the KCET 2019 official website and press “Edit Online Application CET” link.
  • Step 2: Enter the appropriate user ID and Password and then press the “Submit” button.
  • Step 3: Visit payment status tab and click on “Click here to edit Application” link.
  • Step 4: Make the appropriate changes in the KCET 2019 Application Form if required and select the “Declaration” checkbox. Press on “Submit” button.

Step 5: Take the printout of the application form after modification for further perusal.

Steps to Submit KCET 2019 Application form

Step 1: Online Registration

Visit the KCET 2019 official website and click on “New User? Click here to Register.”

Go through the instructions carefully before clicking the “Proceed to Apply Online”

Candidates have to enter their Personal Details, Academic details, Guardian details, mail address, security questions, etc. appropriately and then click on the “Submit” button.

Step 2: Fill Details

A login box will be displayed on the screen.

Enter User ID, Password, and security code then click on theLogin” button.

The application form gets displayed on the screen to enter Personal Details, Examination Details, Communication Details, CET Details, and study Details to fill in the respective field appropriately.

After all the details are filled, click on the “Save & Next” button.

Step 3: Upload Images

The candidate has to upload a scanned passport size colour photograph with a white background, signature, and thumb impression.

The size of the image should be from 5KB to not exceed 40KB.

The signature to be within the dimension of 3.5 cm by 4.5 cm.

Select the images and upload one after one.

Accept “Declaration” and click on “Submit” Button.

Step 4: Fee Payment

The application fee would be Rs.650/- to candidates of general category & Rs.500/- for SC/ST candidates.

Application fee would be Rs.750/- for non-Karnataka candidates and Rs.5000/- to candidates from outside India.

Payment will be completed either through Demand Draft or E-challan.

Download the e-challan and then deposit fee after payment.

After confirming the fee payment, Click on the “Print Final Application” and take a print of it.

Candidates are advised to have a hard copy for further use.

KCET 2019 Exam Center

Location – The KCET will be conducted in 53 different locations all over Karnataka by KEA. The Horanadu and Gadinadu Kannadiga candidates need to appear for the Kannada language test which will be conducted by KEA only in Bangalore.

Center Selection – The candidates can choose the exam centre of their choice during the application form filling process.

Suitable Center – Candidates have the liberty to select the exam centre of their choice as specified by Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) for KCET 2019.

KCET 2019 – Do’s and Don’t at Examination Center

Except admit card no other documents or electronic items (i.e mobile phone, calculator, digital watch etc.) will be allowed into the examination hall.

Be present at the center prior to the scheduled time to avoid any untoward complications with regard to the exam center location and allotment of seat.

In case of requirement, the aadhar card/pan card can be shown for identity verification so advised to keep on hand.

Candidates have to strictly follow the instructions as advised by the center and to avoid any further issues that likely lead to not allowing the candidate to write the exam.

KCET 2019 Admit Card

How to Download KCET 2019 Admit Card?

Step 1 – Go to the KEA official website and Log in to KCET 2019.

Step 2 – Enter the User ID and click on Login button.

Step 3 –  Click “KCET Hall Ticket” link available on the left-hand side of the page.

Step 4 – Tha Admit card downloading page will pop up again. Click on “Download Hall Ticket.”

Step 5 – Lastly Download the Hall Ticket and stick the photo.

  • Availability – The Admit Card can be downloaded from the official website from the first week to the third week of April.
  • Documents –  The candidates are advised to have an extra copy of the Admit Card for the examination as it acts as the only valid document. Any candidate fails to present the Admit Card copy at the examination centre will not be allowed to attempt the examination.
  • Details – Candidates are required to provide correct application number and date of birth to download the Admit Card, and are also advised to keep it till the counselling process terminates. Admit card will not be provided offline.

Step 3 – Candidates can download the result displayed online and advised to retain a hard copy of the same required for further correspondence.

 

Result Date – Candidates can check and download the KCET 2019 Results from the official website. The result will be released from 27th May 2019.

Rank Details – Candidates having applied for different courses (i.e Agriculture, Engineering, Horticulture, etc.) will be allowed ranking accordingly.

Details – Candidates have to enter correct registration number and date of birth to download results.

Result Validation and Consideration – Ranking will be given to the applying candidates based on 12th marks and performance in the KCET 2019 exam. The scorecard will be valid for 1 year only.
