AFCAT(Air Force Common Admission Test)

The Indian Air Force (IAF) is a reputed and organized field of central government. Every year thousands of students aspire to get into the Indian Air force. But the increasing competition has not made every one’s dream come true.

 

The AFCAT exam is conducted by the INDIAN Air Force for the selection of officers in three major branches which are as follows:

  • Flying branch
  • Technical branch
  • Ground duty branch

 

 

AFCAT Exam Pattern & Selection Process:

 

The AFCAT will have of 100 multiple choice questions and each question will carry three marks. So Question paper will be 300. The negative marking is applicable; there is one-third negative marking in AFCAT 2017 exam. For every wrong answer, 1 mark will be subtracted as penalty. 

 

The AFCAT 2017 paper will consist of four sections:

 

 

 

AFCAT SSB Interview Process: After qualification of exam interview will be done of selected aspirants

 

Stage-I This test was a screening test and only those who qualify would undergo subsequent testing. Those contenders who either do not pass in Stage I testing would be sent back on the first day itself.

 

Stage-II Stage II will have Psychological test, Interview and Group Tests and will be taken on subsequent days (Five Days).

 

For Flying Branch: CPSS or Pilot Aptitude Battery Test (PABT) Test would be organized for eligible candidates.

 

 

 

Salary & Other Benefits:

 

Flying Officers will be entitled to pay in Pay Band of Rs 15,600 – 39,100 per month along with Grade Pay, Military Service Pay, Dearness Allowance, Kit Maintenance Allowance, and Transport Allowance. In addition, other allowances are applicable based on nature of duty / place of posting and would include Flying Allowance, Technical Allowance, Field Area Allowance, Special Compensatory (Hill area) Allowance, Special Force Allowance, Siachin Allowance, Island Special Duty Allowance, Test Pilot & Flight Test Engineer Allowance, Hard Area Allowance and Remote Locality Allowance. On successful completion of Training, the newly Commissioned Flying Officers would be entitled to approximate gross monthly emoluments in different branches including Transport Allowance of major cities as follows:

 

a.) Flying Branch: Rs 78,426/-

b.) Technical Branch: Rs 67,926/-

c.) Ground Duty Branches: Rs 64,926/-

 

 

Training Period:

 

 

The duration of training varies according to the courses. For the flying branch and the technical branch training is about one and a half years while for the ground duty branch the training is for about one year. The Training is carried out at the Air Force Academy Dundigal, Hyderabad.

During the training, the candidates are given the facility to travel by rail in AC three tire.

 

 

Eligibility:

 

Flying Branch: 

  • Age: 19 to 23 years as on 01 July 2014
  • Educational Qualifications: Graduates (Minimum three year degree course) in any discipline from a recognized University with minimum 60% marks in aggregate  and have passed Maths and Physics at 10+2 level OR BE / B Tech degree (Four year course) from a recognized University with minimum 60% marks in aggregate.
  • Physical Standards:

Height and Weight: Minimum height: 162.5 cms with correlated weight,

Leg Length: Min – 99 cms. Max – 120 cms. Thigh Length: Max – 64 cms.

Sitting Height: Min – 81.5 cms. Max – 96 cms.

Vision:

  • Minimum Visual Acuity 6/6 in one eye and 6/9 in other, correctable to 6/6  only for hypermetropia.
  • Manifest Myopia – Nil.

 

Technical Branch:

  • Age: 18 to 28 years as on 01 July 2014
  • Educational Qualifications: Aeronautical Engineer (Electrical), Aeronautical Engineer (Mechanical)
  • Physical Standards: Height and Weight: Minimum height :- Men – 157.5 cms with correlated weight
